Technology

  • “Terrain-proof” compound for excellent mileage

The “Terrain-Proof” compound is derived from earth mover tyre technology where abrasion with stones and gravel accelerates wear.
The “Terrain-Proof” compound enables both on and off-road driving and resists wear in difficult driving conditions, in particular:
    • in multi-purpose use, e.g. stone/gravel tracks.
    • with heavily laden vehicles, e.g. towing a horsebox.
    • in hard road driving (hard braking, acceleration or cornering).

  • without Stabiligrip with Stabiligrip

StabiliGrip sipes for comfort and safety on wet roads

StabiliGrip allows the use of more sipes (better wet grip) whilst still giving tread block rigidity (improved driving precision).
In addition, StabiliGrip sipes are specially positioned to reduce tyre noise.

  • Deformable Rigid

"Supple yet rigid” construction for greater safety on wet roads and more mileage*

A supple casing, giving the maximum sized contact patch, combined with a rigid tread pattern ensures an even distribution of pressure across the whole contact patch.
Result: optimum grip, especially on wet roads, and an even wear pattern for greater mileage.

Tough Test for Michelins New Michelin Latitude HPs fitted in October and off we went. Escaping from the English rain we toured down through France crossed the Pyrenees and south almost as far as Gibraltar. After some off-road stuff in the Sierra del Nueves (Mountains of the Mist) we headed north into Portugal. We ended up teetering over the edge of a steep mountainside in the Sierra Lousa and had to be extracted by a gang of locals with two tractors. This was the result of my bad reversing not the tyres. Five thousand miles later and we are home. Those Michelins stuck like glue to everything. Fast autoroutes giddy Pyrenean farm roads rocky tracks in the Sierras were never a problem. They even pulled us through a quagmire of mud which really warranted mud tyres. Now back in the UK we are immediately ploughing through deep snow and gingering over the ice in Derbyshire. All driving poses problems but with Michelins tyres aren't one of them. Doug January 27, 2013

Great all rounders I purchased these tyres after my old ones started showing signs of wear and fatigue. I was looking for a tyre which is great on motorways great on country lanes and importantly for me safe and reliable when towing a Caravan or trailer with my Discovery loaded to its limits. I have not been disappointed I get a reasonable mpg ride comfort is superb road holding has been amazing considering the ice and snow we have endured this winter. I've even towed a caravan through snow and ice when the majority of the population have stayed at home on advice of the National News and Met Office and no problems at all. The Tyres are M+S they have proven themselves on wet grass through mud deep water surface water and the ice and snow of the winter. In my day to day work I also get to drive Land Rover Discovery's too we use the Latitudes on them too we are regularly on Motorways grass mud and ruts if driven correctly these tyres perform as expected giving good life and mileage. I've dragged 40tonne trucks in the past while on these tyres now as far as I'm concerned that's a tyre going above and beyond what it is meant to do. I'm still a way off new tyres on this vehicle so if I change it or keep it my next tyres will be Latitudes. Andy January 12, 2013

don't cheat yourself by cheaper tyres As an ex mechanic i have seen lots of worn out tyres. You would not believe the state and mixture of different types fitted that lead to accidents and near misses. All the michelin range have tyres to suit all types of vehiles. Dont fall into the trap of buying cheaper tyres they don't last as long and could be the last thing you buy!! big & little heaps dad January 3, 2013
