Convert from Continental UK & Ireland, December 17, 2014 My Passat TDI 4Motion TDI had OEM Continentals on it when we bought it and I stayed with Continentals for several years, before switching to Michelin Energy tyres about two years ago. Tyre buying is always quite a painful event, as I run matched tyres, to protect the 4WD system - whenever I buy tyres it's always a full set. The grip on the Michelins is moderately superior, but the thing that really knocks the performance of the equivalent Continentals out of contention vs the Michelins is the longevity of the tyres - they have lasted approximately twice as long, under the same use conditions - I was properly amazed at the difference, for only a tiny difference in cost. I work the car hard - it tows cars on trailers thousands of miles, does school runs and in the heavy snow two years ago ran staff for a local respite home in and out when they couldn't get about in their own cars. Despite not being winter tyres the Michelins performed superbly on that mission. I honestly cannot rate these tyres highly enough - I have just had a second set fitted after over 20,000 hard miles on the first set. They are epic.
