LONG LASTING TYRE PERFORMANCES

For decades, Michelin has been committed to developing and improving our tyre performances.

We continue this with our latest innovation, MICHELIN Primacy 4and MICHELIN CrossClimate ranges, providing safety from new until worn(1)

MICHELIN COMMITMENT

We are committed to provide safety to drivers when the tyres are new, even when they are worn(1), thanks to our latest innovations, MICHELIN Primacy 4 and MICHELIN CrossClimate+

SUSTAINABLE AND WINNING CHOICE FOR CONSUMERS
  • Save time and money by replacing tyres only when they are fully worn(*)
  • Reduce fuel consumption thanks to decrease of rolling resistance
  • Minimize environment waste(2)

OUR WISH FOR THE TYRE SECTOR

INTRODUCE MANDATORY USED TYRE TESTS, IN ADDITION TO CURRENT TESTS ON NEW TYRES

Do not replace tyres before their legal limit for:

  • avoiding unnecessary consumer spendings while ensuring their safety and quality over time
  • and thus protect the environment.

Indeed, while the legislation in most countries sets the legal wear level at 1.6 mm(7), some manufacturers recommend to anticipate the tyre change at 3 mm.

We therefore wish to fight planned obsolescence.

OUR COMMITMENT: LIMIT THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

The Michelin strategy is to develop sustainable mobility solutions by limiting the environmental impact of our products and our production activities.

WE CALCULATED THAT EVERY YEAR IN EUROPE, IF ALL TYRES WERE USED UP TO THE LEGAL LIMIT OF 1.6MM(7):

Nearly 128 MILLION

(2) Reduction of 128M of tyres in Europe due to early replacement and 9M of tons of CO2 emissions. Technical position paper, 09/27/2016, on "Raw material, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions related to early removal of passenger car tyres".
Internal calculations carried out at ladoux (technology center, clermont-ferrand - france).
(3) New and Worn (worn means 2 mm tread depth), on 205/55 R16 91H MICHELIN CROSSCLIMATE+, is above the R117 European regulation wet grip threshold both under "Snow" and "Normal" tire categories conditions.
(4)Tests conducted by TestWorld, on Michelin’s request, in July 2016, on dimension 205/55 R16 on VW Golf 7, in comparison with GOODYEAR Vector 4Seasons Gen-2 and PIRELLI Cinturato All Season. Worn means 2,1 mm tread depth.
(5) New and Worn (worn means 2 mm tread depth), on 205/55 R16 91V MICHELIN PRIMACY 4, is above the R117 European regulation wet grip threshold.
(6) Wet braking test, between 80 and 20 kph, conducted by TÜV SÜV product service, on Michelin's request, between June and July 2017, on dimension 205/55 R16 91V on VW Golf 7 comparing MICHELIN PRIMACY 4 versus BRIDGESTONE TURANZA T001 EVO ; CONTINENTAL PREMIUM CONTACT 5 ; DUNLOP BLURESPONSE ; GOODYEAR EFFICIENT GRIP PERFORMANCE ; PIRELLI CINTURATO P7 BLUE competitors.
