- Three metres shorter braking distance on wet roads(1)

The best dry handling
• N°1 in dry handling(2)
• The fastest tyre(3) (4)
Developed with Porsche, BMW M and Ferrari
TECHNOLOGY
THE TWARON® BELT
• At very high speed, The Twaron® belt ensures greater stability.
• Its variable tension grips the centre of the tread more tightly than the shoulders.
Centrifugal force is thus better controlled and forces are distributed more evenly.
DUAL-COMPOUND TECHNOLOGY
• A novel distribution of two different rubber compounds between the outer and inner sides of the tread.
• Outer side: a novel carbon black-reinforced elastomer derived directly from the Le Mans 24 Hour Race.
The result: extreme endurance even under the tightest cornering.
• Inner side: the latest generation of elastomers with exceptional wet grip to mould themselves to the slightest irregularities in the road surface and break the film of water.
VARIABLE CONTACT PATCH 2.0
Whether you’re accelerating flat out in a straight line or cornering at high speed, you still get optimum grip.
• When cornering, the shape of the contact patch changes but the amount of rubber in contact with the road surface stays the same.
• MICHELIN Pilot Super Sport has benefited from the latest digital simulation software used in the aeronautics and automobile industries.
These state-of-the-art tools have enabled the forces and temperatures to be more evenly distributed over the contact patch.
I hadn't unpacked the 285/35 18 tyres when I noticed two points. Firstly the width of the drainage channels were much bigger than illustrations, huge in fact! 2x 20mm & 1x 25mm, not what I expected as I use these in dry conditions. I have PS4S currently fitted, these are 8mm wide! They are also same as Andrei's issue-310mm wide and 11" at the bead. I wont attempt to fit these to my 9.5 rims.

Had Pilot Super Sports fitted to my Hyundai i30 SR 2017 model, size of 225/40x18. Improved the roadholding greatly, with excellent reduction in lap times at circuit sprint days. Quiet tyre for normal driving and after 20,000 kms are about half worn.

Tires were much bigger that they were suppose to be

Hello! A while ago I purchased a set of Super Sports for my SL55AMG. 255/35ZR19 (front) and 285/30ZR19 (rear). Unfortunately, the rear tires seemed to be the result of a massive production error as their were much wider that the tires they were replacing (same size) and would not fit the rim as they were supposed to (9.5j). The only rim which this tire sat correctly on was a Porsche 911 11j rim. After professional expertise was conducted, the conclusion was that the tire's real dimensions were 315/25ZR19. Several comparisons were made using 31 other tires in 285/30ZR19 size and none of those had such offset dimensions. In fact the width range for all these 31 tires was 278-294mm, while the faulty tire was 314mm wide (no rim protection). After speaking with mr Nicolas de Mahieu, Secretary General of ETRTO and after comparing data with official standard documentation, we reached the conclusion that, indeed, the tires were not within the standard tolerances. Unfortunately, this production error was very badly addressed by the local staff who intentionally did whatever they could to cover this thing up. Awful experiece with the tires, awful experience with the staff.
