Less fuel used

Save up to 80 litres of fuel(1).

Outstanding longevity

MICHELIN ENERGY™ Saver lasts 6,000 miles longer(2). Longer-lasting tyres also result in fewer worn tyres to recycle!

More safety

Your safety is always a priority for MICHELIN. Your braking distance is up to 3 metres shorter on wet roads(3).

TECHNOLOGY

Less fuel used and more safety in wet conditions due to a new generation 100% silica-based rubber compound

In 1992, Michelin launched its 1st generation of low fuel consumption “green tyres”, made possible by the partial substitution of carbon black with silica.

MICHELIN Energy Saver uses the latest generation silica which almost completely replaces the carbon black.

More safety in wet conditions, maintained mile after mile due to the Durable Security Compound (DSC)

The Durable Security Compound is a new ingredient in the tread rubber. It is aromatic oil free (complying with the European Directive which came into force in January 2010).

It improves wet braking, not only when the tyre is new, but also as it wears.

By maintaining the rigidity of the tread rubber, the Durable Security Compound ensures efficient braking during the whole life of the tyre (Michelin Patent).

Outstanding longevity due to a mixing process exclusive to Michelin

This exclusive Michelin process allows for the simultaneous combination of all the tread ingredients, with perfect control of the mixture consistency and molecular interaction.

Tread rubber performance is very dependent on the quality of the molecular bonding of its 14 individual ingredients (elastomers, sulphur, antioxidants, silica, etc.).

The new mixing process enhances the performance of the 100% silica-based compound and the DSC compared to using a non-Michelin process.

Despite claim not energy efficient

Casch - April 6, 2019

I bought this set of tires 36 days ago replacing all 4 worn out Bridgestone tires. Installation went smooth nothing out of the ordinary but instantly noticed that my MPG went down almost 5 MPG. Took it back and had inflation checked and all was good. They said that after the first 1000 miles or so the tires would "break in". Luckily I drive a lot and put on 2500 miles in a month with NO improvement. Took the tires back to Costco and they were great and replaced them with other tires. It's only been a couple days and already the mileage has improved. On the good side the Michelin tires handle great. However, I drive a lot and have a hybrid to get every MPG I can. Loosing 5 miles to the gallon was unacceptable.

40000k miles and still good tread!

    nicktuffs - March 7, 2017

Driving a Mini Cooper along the motorway on a daily basis (28000m p.a.) for 41000 miles and still got 5mm of tread on the rear and 4 on the front - unheard of in my experience!

Rolling resistance tests carried out by TÜV SÜD in 2009 on the 15 key tyre sizes for the European market (MICHELIN was first in 13 sizes and second in 2 sizes). Calculated over the average life span for MICHELIN tyres, i.e. 28,000 miles (internal source).
      (2) On average, compared to its main European competitors. Tests carried out by TÜV SÜD and DEKRA in 2008, 2009 and 2010 on tyre sizes 175/65 R 14 T, 195/65 R 15 H and 205/55 R 16 V, with tyres available on the market at the time.
