10,000 mile review

pedalbikefun - March 26, 2020

I put a set of the Michelin Anakee Adventures on my Triumph Tiger Explorer (1200) six months ago and have now put 10,000 miles on them. I have been impressed from day one and even now the tires are still holding up well. Living in the desert southwest, I learned on decomposed granite roads that the front tire will quickly lose grip, but on fire roads and dirt roads, they work well. I do not ride this bike on Single-track; I have a dual-sport for that activity. On the twisty asphalt mountain roads, they feel solid and inspire confidence. The dual-compound rear tire still has plenty a tread with minimal flattening out. I took a seven-state western tour and had no issues in all types of weather. Overall I could not be happier with the tires; yes, they hum on asphalt and concrete, but I wear ear protection and a full-face helmet to avoid wind noise; therefore, the hum is not noticeable. The front tire is beginning to show signs of edge fraying but still no flattening of the radius. The tread depth after 10K is 5/32 on the rear and 4/32 on the front. I consider this to be amazing considering the weight/power of the bike and the long haul gear I take with me. The set will probably make it another 3-5k and then I will buy the same tires again. My riding style is smooth fast with no wheel stands.

Worst tyre I have tried

Inigoysmln - February 5, 2020

These tyres came fitted on my 1250GSA. After 3000 miles with them I can say they are the worst tyres I have ever tried. This is obviously my opinion based on riding in England and Wales during the winter. The tyres don’t provide me any feedback, they seem to be floating and don’t inspire any confidence. They don’t offer me a progressive dive into the bend, after some leaning the bike just drops in without offering any feedback. I quite liked the Anakee 3s but these new tyres definitely don’t match my expectation for a Michelin Tyre.

These tires are fantastic!

Bill - December 10, 2019

I own a Versys X300 and rode 2500 miles on the factory tires. I ride streets to get out to the country, and then I mostly ride lots of gravel and dirt roads, and some trails. I purchased the Anakee 2 months ago and have now put 600 miles on them. The difference in grip in all conditions is amazing. I thought I would have to break in the tires, but they worked great from the very start. I think they are more like 70 /30 tires. I’ve ridden them in rain too and they great very well. I have ridden some very steep trails in the Loess Hill in Iowa, and these tires grip very well. I have only written a few product reviews in my life, but these tires were worth writing about. I cannot vouch for how they will last, but they are well made.
